Description

Overview

This article describes steps to take when adding an existing dedicated SSL certificate our cPanel hosting. A dedicated SSL certificate can be obtained from us if you do not have one already, for information on ordering see this support article.

Only one dedicated SSL can be installed on a cPanel instance at a time. Multiple cPanel accounts are required for multiple domains with dedicated SSL certificates.

For further assistance with obtaining and installing SSL certificates please contact our support team at support@netregistry.com.au or 1300 638 734.

Log in the Console (If you’re not sure how to do that, click here)
Manage the domain you want to make changes to
On the next page, look for cPanel Hosting then Log into cPanel interface

This will open a new screen with your cPanel interface, look for the Security category then select SSL/TLS
(note that cPanel supports different themes, your theme may differ)
Near the bottom of the SSL/TLS page, look for Install and Manage SSL for your site (HTTPS) then click on Manage SSL Sites
Under the Install an SSL Website category there is a domain drop down box, select the domain you wish to install the certificate to
Once a domain has been selected, scroll down and you will see text boxes named Certificate: (CRT), Private Key (KEY) and Certificate Authority Bundle: (CABUNDLE). Once these are filled select the Install Certificate option at the bottom of the page to finish the process
The Private Key (KEY) section requires a key which is unique to your cPanel server. If you have ordered your certificate from us it will be attached to your order confirmation e-mail. (Keys can be managed from the Private Keys (KEY) section under SSL/TLS in cPanel)

The Certificate Authority Bundle: (CABUNDLE) section is completed by entering in an intermediate certificate/s provided by the CA (certificate authority such as Symantec or GeoTrust). This is included in an e-mail to you along with the main certificate when your order is completed. (CA Bundles can be also manually downloaded from each CA website)

When pasting in the certificate/keys you need to make sure you include the beginning and end tags, example:

----BEGIN CERTIFICATE----
<certificate here>
----END CERTIFICATE----

There are third party tools available to check if your dedicated SSL certificate has been installed, a commonly used one is SSL Shopper.

Success! You’ve done the steps for this article. If you’re unable to follow these steps, or receive an error in doing so, please contact our support team at support@netregistry.com.au or 1300 638 734 for further assistance.
