Without reverse DNS, you may experience technical problems with some SMTP servers, r-commands, IRC, some enterprise management systems and network backup systems. We offer a reverse DNS service to our VPS Hosting customers.
How it works:
Conventional DNS is also referred to as Forward DNS. It involves the resolution of a domain name to an IP address.
Example: mail.mydomain.com.au 220.127.116.11
Reverse DNS was designed to allow the reverse process of the above.
Example: 18.104.22.168 mail.mydomain.com.au
Setting up reverse DNS isn’t required for most domains, however some servers (including mail servers) block connections from IP addresses that do not have reverse DNS entries.
Setting up reverse DNS with your VPS
